Let's talk about Brazil!

Hey guys!

Today I would like to talk a little bit about my country, Brazil! I'm gonna write a short text about it and you have to figure out if there is anything in it which I have posted about, ok? For example:
"Brazil is the largest country in South America." - From this sentence, you can say that I posted about Countries and Nationalities, about Comparisons (largest), and so on...
Now this is the text:

"When I was a little boy at school, my teachers used to tell me that each one of the four colors in the Brazilian flag had a different meaning: the green represents the forests and woodlands, the yellow is for the gold that existed in abundance, the blue represents the brazilian sky and each star represents a brazilian state and, finally, there is a saying on a white band, 'Ordem e Progresso', that is, 'Order and Progress'...

Brazil was discovered by Portuguese in the year of 1500 a.C.. Well, actually, there were already people here in Brazil when they arrived, and these people were the Indians, Indegenous, the native-born. There was a very important tree at that time, and it was called 'pau-brasil', that is, 'brazilwood', and you could extract a dye from that tree, which Indians used to paint their faces and bodies with.

At the end of the seventeenth century, exports of Brazilian sugar started to decline, and Portugal had to look for new sources of income. The Bandeirantes, "followers of the banner", had an original purpose which was to capture and force amerindians into slavery from 1580 to 1670, but they focused on mineral wealth from 1670 to 1750. The Bandeiras, "flags" in Portuguese, are like slave-hunting expeditions. They found much gold, silver and other minerals . In a short way, Portugal has got nearly all the gold found in Brazil, and it is in many countries all over the world.

I hope you enjoyed to learn a little bit about Brazil. Of course, that is not all the history, that's just a small text with a few information about Brazil that you can read and learn more English!
I hope you liked it!

See you!
