For, During, Since, Ago, Before, After, While, Still, Yet and Already

What's up?

Hoje explicarei um pouco sobre cada uma das palavras do título desse post.

For or During
For é usado para períodos de tempo que não tem uma nomeação específica, e During é usado para períodos de tempo com uma nomeação, como estações do ano.
Ex.: I worked in South Africa during the winter.(Eu trabalhei na África do Sul durante o inverno.)
       I worked in South Africa for three months. (Eu trabalhei na África do Sul por três meses.)

Since, For or Ago
Geralmente, Since é usado no Present Perfect enquanto Ago é usado no Past Simple. For pode ser usado no Simple Past se a ação já terminou, ou no Present Perfect se a ação tiver vestígios no presente.
Ex.: I haven't watched a horror movie since last year. (Eu não assistia a um filme de terror desde o ano passado)
       He wrote lots of poems five years ago. (Ele escreveu muitos poemas há cinco anos atrás.)
       I dreamed nightmares for a long time. (Eu sonhei pesadelos por muito tempo.)
       I have been working in New York for five years. (Eu trabalhei [e continuo trabalhando] em Nova York por cinco anos.)

Before, After or While
Verbos depois de Before, After e While tem terminação -ing.
Ex.: While living in London, I learnt English. (Enquanto eu vivia em Londres, eu estudei Inglês.)
       Before eating, wash your hands. (Antes de comer, lave suas mãos.)
       After eating, brush your teeth. (Depois de comer, escove seus dentes.)

Still, Yet or Already
Still pode ser usado em qualquer tipo de frase. Yet pode ser usado em frases interrogativas e negativas, mas, em cada uma delas, terá um significado diferente. Already pode ser usado em frases interrogativas e interrogativas.
Ex.: I'm still doing my homework. (Eu ainda estou fazendo minha tarefa.)
       We have already studied a lot. (Nós já temos estudado bastante.)
       Have you finished your homework yet? (Você já terminou sua tarefa?)
       I didn't finish my homework yet. (Eu não terminei minha tarefa ainda.)
