Slang

Hello!

Today we're gonna learn something very interesting called Slang. Do you know where the word Slang came from? It came from London, created by tradespeople, so they could talk without being understood by other people. It was created by mixing the words Secret and LANGuage, got it?
Don't forget a Slang is an uncountable noun, so it's always in its singular form.

Veja alguns Slang:

Raining cats and dogs:

We use this for rainy days. It means it's raining so much, a lot of water, like an ocean is falling from the sky.

"Hurry up! It's raining cats and dogs!"

Little girl's room:

Women usually say this. It means "toilet", but if you're in a restaurant, that wouldn't be a good word, so you say "little gil's room".
É comum para mulheres usarem essa gíria. Caso você esteja num restaurante e queira ir ao banheiro, ao invés de dizer "I have to go to toilet.", que é muito grosseiro, você pode dizer

"I have to go to the little girl's room."

Do not use these slang in formal situations.
Não use essas gírias em situações formais.
